The Hengel Club Universiteit (HCU) has been part of the SPR since the founding of the SPR in 1950! The HCU has also been affiliated with Sportvisserij Nederland (formerly NVVS) for over 56 years, the national association for sport fishing. The association organizes 5 competitions in the form of a summer competition. These competitions take place on the first Saturday of the months of May, July, August, September and October. These competitions are usually held in Friesland. In the winter months a winter competition takes place (ijs- en weder diende). These also take place on the first Saturday of the months of November, December, January, February and March. There is also an "SPR" competition. Every SPR member / staff member RUG and Hanze can participate in this competition. This competition is held on a weekday in April. In June there is a "free" competition, which is held in the province of Groningen. "Free" means that it is a competition that is not fished in a competitive context. Then there are the summer evening games. From around mid-May 7 competitions will be held within a radius of 20 km around town. These competitions are on a Wednesday evening from 5.30 pm to 10.00 pm. For more information e-mail us.
