Yoga - Angeliki Sotiropoulou

My name is Angeliki and my unique trip in yoga started in 2012, playing a key role in my life. I completed a 200-hours training in Hatha Yoga, but my thirst for exploring the yoga path led me to experiment in different yoga styles through practicing and teaching.

In 2014, my first interaction with Ashtanga happened. From then on I am devoted to that method and I practice daily. Ever since embarking on this journey I have met teachers to whom I am grateful for the knowledge and experience that they shared with me.

In my continuous search for the source of Ashtanga I have been studying under the guidance of R. Sharath Jois at Mysore, India, the birthplace of this traditional method, with a personal commitment to be practicing in the Shala every year.

The benefits of a consistent Ashtanga yoga practice that I experience personally, are greater strength, flexibility, and improvement of the health physically and mentally. Ashtanga starts as a physical practice but it is a spiritual path that can transform your life in a profound way.

More about Ashtanga:

Ashtanga yoga is a traditional yoga method that originally comes from Mysore, India where it was taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Nowadays, the successor of the method is his grandson R. Sahath Jois at Sharath Yoga Centre.

In the Mysore style class, the students will learn the asana(=posture) practice combined by the steady free breathing. There is a sequence of postures that we follow and under the guidance of the teacher, you will memorise this sequence to build a healthy base for your own yoga practice. The practice has a flow, using the breathing technique with the postures but we customise the practice to the level, needs, health and mental status of the student.

All levels are welcome. Beginners can join this practice. Advanced and students that know about this practice can join this class. We work separately with each one of the students.

You are able to learn and build your own practice and use it at home in the near future.

It is a group session but you receive private guidance according to your needs.

Benefits of the practice:

  • Building a balance between stamina, endurance and flexibility
  • Working body and mind
  • Gaining higher energy levels for the day
  • Concentration
  • Decreasing stress levels.
